BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has appointed more judges to the state bench than any other governor.

State court officials say Dalrymple has selected 17 judges in his five-plus years at the helm, accounting for one-third of the sitting judges in the state. He appointed nine judges to the bench this year.

Seven of the appointments were new positions created by the Legislature. One selection was to replaces a judge who died and the remainder resulted from retirements or resignations.
