LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Police is investigating the death of a Baxter County Jail inmate.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1QQoCHP ) that 36-year-old Raylen Cox of Lonoke died after authorities found him unresponsive in a jail cell Thursday morning.

Cox was arrested Wednesday morning for public intoxication and taken to the jail in Mountain Home. Sheriff John Montgomery says jailers checked on Cox during his incarceration, and he was found unresponsive at 5 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities took Cox to the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, where he died. Authorities say Cox’s body will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
