NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - A fire official says an intense Christmas Eve blaze that destroyed a North Las Vegas house while no one was home has been ruled arson.

North Las Vegas fire Capt. Cedric Williams declined to say Friday what led investigators to determine the fire had been intentionally set.

He said no injuries were reported, even though the roof of the two-story house partially collapsed. Firefighters conducted several searches in the charred rubble to look for burn victims.

Neighbors summoned firefighters about 2 a.m. Friday when flames erupted from the home on Little Blue Heron Avenue. That’s near Centennial Parkway and Lamb Boulevard.

Williams says it took more than 30 firefighters about 40 minutes to contain flames.

Damage to the home was estimated at $300,000.

Neighboring structures weren’t damaged.
