TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has joined the investigation into a human skull with a possible gunshot wound that has been discovered at Arrowhead State Park.

Pittsburg County sheriff’s deputies asked the statewide law enforcement agency for its assistance on Thursday. The Tulsa World reports (https://bit.ly/1VgotMN ) that the skull was found in the Turkey Flat area of Arrowhead State Park on Lake Eufaula.

An OHP report says state troopers escorted a game warden and personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to where the skull had been found. The dense area was searched for any other human remains or evidence, but nothing else was found.

The report says the Medical Examiner’s Office took possession of the skull for further analysis.
