PINETOP, Ariz. (AP) - A trout hybrid that has markings like a tiger is being stocked in Arizona waterways for the first time next year.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department has been raising 18,000 tiger trout at the Tonto Creek Hatchery near Payson. The department got the fingerlings free from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in July.

The trout won’t be able to reproduce since they’re a forced hybrid of brown and brook trout.

The fish will be stocked in Arizona starting in late April or early May when they’re about 10 inches in length.

Anglers can find them at lakes along the Mogollon Rim and in the White Mountains.
