ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police say people in two cars exchanged gunfire while driving down a downtown Albuquerque street with bullets narrowly missing bystanders.

The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1RKoGJe) that the shooting happened around 10:45 a.m. Thursday near 2nd Street and Marble.

Officer Simon Drobik says an officer happened to hear the gunfire and rushed to the scene.

The officer only saw two vehicles speeding away.

Drobik says several bullets hit a uniform store, including one that almost struck a woman in the head.

Police say they do not know if anyone in either vehicle was struck by gunfire but are asking hospitals to report any gunshot wounds.
