BARNESBORO, Pa. (AP) - Firefighters in western Pennsylvania spent Christmas Day trying to fight rekindled flames at a former tire recycling plant, and workers are to be back try to resolve the problem.

Emergency dispatchers in Cambria County said the blaze was reported early Thursday in Susquehanna Township near the Indiana County line. The flames completely destroyed one of the plant’s three structures and created a large cloud of smoke.

Firefighters from one company were called back to the scene at 9:30 a.m. Friday and again shortly after 3 p.m. Friday after the flames rekindled.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat (https://bit.ly/1YE9RfL ) reports that a demolition crew will be trying to dig up the smoldering piles of tires on Saturday to resolve the problem.
