OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Service members at Hill Air Force Base will receive a boost in housing help next year.

The Standard-Examiner in Ogden reports (https://bit.ly/1TlovBP) that the Department of Defense has released its 2016 Basic Allowance for Housing rates.

Hill Air Force Base officials say the rates for base military members with dependents will rise by 7.5 percent and those without will get an 8.4 percent bump.

Officials say the highest increases will go toward technical sergeants and first and second lieutenants with dependents.

They could see a raise of up to 12 percent.

The new rates take effect Jan. 1.

The U.S. military determines housing allowance rates using market data from more than 300 military housing locations nationwide.
