SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Jackson County couple survived a house fire but lost three dogs. Now they’re getting the house back.

Hi-Tech Restoration is leading an effort to rebuild the Jackson-area home of Thomas and Jean Farthing. They didn’t have insurance when a fire hit on Oct. 30.

Jason Adams of Hi-Tech says he heard the story and stepped forward to help, free of charge, especially because 63-year-old Thomas Farthing is an Air Force veteran. Thousands of dollars have been raised.

Adams worked the phones to get more businesses on board, including ABC Supply, which provided a free roof.

Jean Farthing tells the Jackson Citizen Patriot (https://bit.ly/1TkBFyU ) she’s “very amazed.” The home should be ready by early spring.
