BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The new year in North Dakota has been ringing in with a bigger bang in recent years.

The Legislature passed a law two years ago that allows fireworks to be sold from the day following Christmas through New Year’s Day.

Until then, licensed businesses could only sell fireworks from June 27 through July 5.

Fireworks may be sold to any North Dakota resident who is at least 12 years old.
