SAN BENITO, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a propane leak may be to blame for a Christmas Day explosion at a Rio Grande Valley home where two of the nine people hurt in the blast have died.

Names of the victims have not been released. All are believed to be members of an extended family who were celebrating Christmas at the home outside San Benito.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio tells The Brownsville Herald (https://bit.ly/1UbErqr ) the two fatalities include a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

Cameron County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Hushen says the people killed and the survivors all had burns. At least four are in critical condition. A witness reported hearing a loud bang, followed by smoke and flames in the house.
