NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - An off-duty Las Vegas police officer mistakenly shot a relative at her North Las Vegas home but the family member is expected to survive.

The Las Vegas Sun reported (https://bit.ly/1J9TWi9 ) Saturday that North Las Vegas police responded around 11:30 p.m. Friday to a shooting at a house on Kelcie Marie Avenue near Ann Road.

According to authorities, the officer and her husband were sleeping when they heard the relative, a woman who also lives there, arrive home unexpectedly.

The couple went to investigate and shot the woman in the process.

She was hit multiple times but her injuries appear non-life-threatening.



Officer Aaron Patty says she is in stable condition.

Patty says no charges are expected to be filed but the shooting remains under investigation.
