ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police say westbound Interstate 40 at Coors Boulevard has reopened after a pedestrian was fatally struck.

Police say the tractor trailer was headed westbound on I-40 when it suffered a mechanical failure that caused dual wheels along the rim to separate from the trailer. The dual wheels struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound on the north shoulder of the highway.

The Monday afternoon incident is still being investigated, and police haven’t released the victim’s name.
