ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Ashland Independent Film Festival has received a record number of submissions for the 15th annual festival.

The Mail Tribune of Medford reports (https://is.gd/SOgWIu ) that 1,233 films were submitted, an increase of 170 films over 2014.

Director of Programming Richard Herskowitz says the festival has nearly doubled the number of entries received in the past five years. There were 716 submissions by the entry deadline for the 2012 festival.

For the next two months, Herskowitz and his team of professional volunteers will go through all the submissions and choose 90 to 100 films for the festival, which will run April 7-11.
