MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A close friend says the family of four killed on a slippery highway in central Minnesota was heading home from a Christmas visit with relatives when their SUV slid into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Killed in the collision on Highway 65 near McGrath were 45-year-old Chris Moe, his 40-year-old wife, Rae Anne; and their children 14-year-old Samantha and 12-year-old Anthony.

Chris Moe’s longtime friend, Mike Dmytruk, tells the Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1MCTALD ) the Moes were both medical assistants. The Moes lived in Columbia Heights and were about halfway home Saturday when their SUV slid sideways and collided with a larger Chevy Suburban. Five people in the Suburban were taken to a hospital in Mora with non-life threatening injuries.

Dmytruk says the family attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church in northeast Minneapolis.
