JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say more than 180 Missouri roads are closed because of flooding.

The Missouri State Department of Transportation says the closures include eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 in St. Charles County. Lanes in both directions closed Sunday because of rising flood waters from the Dardenne Creek. But the westbound lanes reopened Monday morning.

Also closed were eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 at Hazelgreen because the Gasconade River is flooding.

Several bridges also are closed because of flooding. Counties affected by the closures include Laclede, Lafayette, Macon, Ray, Scotland, Ste. Genevieve and Taney.

The National Weather Service says a wintry system could bring light snow to Missouri by midweek, but rain is expected to subside after Monday. Below normal precipitation is expected over the next 10 days.
