DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (AP) - A Maine man who eluded police in what has been called the longest manhunt in the state’s history says he is not guilty of killing his former girlfriend.

Robert Burton is charged with killing Stephanie Gebo at her home in Parkman last June. He also faces a charge of felony possession of a firearm.

Burton, of Abbott, led police on a manhunt for two months over the summer. He appeared in a court room in Dover-Foxcroft on Monday and entered his plea.

WABI-TV (https://bit.ly/1OTZPwy ) reports state police say the search for Burton cost more than $500,000.
