LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - A man shot to death by law enforcement officers in George County after a high speed chase has been identified as a Lucedale resident.

Thirty-six-year-old Michael A. Parker was killed Sunday. Warren Strain, spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, released the name Monday.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1NTd54y) that Parker led George County deputies and a state trooper on a high-speed chase after he failed to pull over for a traffic stop.

Witnesses told WLOX TV (https://bit.ly/1NTdhRl ) the chase reached speeds of 100 mph.

But there has been no information released on why shots were fired. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating, as it does in all officer-involved shootings.
