LOS ANGELES (AP) - Officials say three people have died and another person is in critical condition after a car struck a tree and flipped over in the Venice-Marina del Rey area.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1Pu67aF ) that authorities responded to the crash around 6 p.m. Monday.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says two people were ejected from the vehicle in the crash. One of those ejected was hospitalized in critical condition. The other person died.

Firefighters were still working Monday night to free two bodies trapped in the wreckage.

The victims have not yet been identified.



The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
