CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - A planning administrator with the city of Custer is in custody on a more than $1 million bond after authorities accused him of raping a child and possessing child pornography.

Pennington County Jail records show Scott Simianer faces three charges including first-degree rape of a child younger than 13, and possessing, manufacturing or distributing child pornography.

Custer County State’s Attorney Tracy Kelley tells the Rapid City Journal Simianer was arrested on suspicion of rape Dec. 21, and the pornography charge was added after authorities searched Simianer’s home and computer.

An initial hearing on the pornography charge was held Monday. A preliminary hearing on the rape charge is scheduled for Jan. 5.

It wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday if Simianer has an attorney. A message seeking comment left at a number listed as Simianer’s in a public telephone listing wasn’t immediately returned.
