LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada Highway Patrol says a 38-year-old Las Vegas man died Sunday after he lost control of his Harley Davidson near Searchlight.

The agency said Tuesday that Shamon Hudson was among a group of motorcycle riders heading north on U.S. Route 95 shortly after 4 p.m. when he lost control and was thrown from the Harley. A woman riding a Yamaha behind the Harley attempted to stop but hit Hudson.

The agency says the woman was thrown from her vehicle, too and was transported to UMC Trauma in Las Vegas with serious injuries.

A third motorcycle rider following behind avoided colliding with the Yamaha but lost control and overturned, suffering minor injuries.

The agency says it was the 61st fatal crash this year and the 13th involving a motorcycle.
