MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting and stabbing of a 17-year-old.

Mobile police spokeswoman Charlette Solis says 55-year-old Michael Reed was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree kidnapping.

Media outlets report the male victim was found Dec. 13 in the trunk of a car outside of a church. Police say the teen was shot in the leg and also had a stab wound. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

Solis says Reed had been taking care of the victim. The two were staying at a hotel when the incident happened.

Reed told police a stranger broke into their hotel room, shot the teen and made Reed put him in the trunk.

Solis says video surveillance from the hotel and the church shows only Reed and the victim.

It’s unclear if Reed has an attorney.
