PHOENIX (AP) - The Phoenix police motorcycle officer who was injured in a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 17 has been released from the hospital and is in good health.

Spokesman James Holmes said in a news release that the officer suffered facial injuries and has a sore ankle but that he’s expected to make a full recovery.

The Monday collision shut down the northbound highway for several hours as authorities investigated.

Holmes said the officer hit some debris in the roadway, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle.
