PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says one person was killed and another was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in northern Los Angeles County.

The CHP says a 21-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene of the collision Monday night in the Pearblossom area near Palmdale.

The woman was in a Nissan Sentra that crossed into the opposite lane of Fort Tejon Road and hit a Mercury Sable head-on. A Chrysler Pacifica then struck the Sentra.

The male driver of the Mercury was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Officials say the driver of the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

The crash remains under investigation early Tuesday.
