ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) - An SUV traveling the wrong way on Interstate 5 collided head-on with a semi-truck, killing one person and injuring another.

Oregon State Police said the crash happened Tuesday shortly after midnight. The driver of a new Honda SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes just north of Rice Hill in Douglas County. The driver was seriously injured and a 35-year-old female passenger died at the scene.

The truck driver was not hurt.

State police say alcohol is being considered a contributing factor, but the investigation remains active.

The collision caused one northbound lane to be closed for more than six hours.
