ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The Alexandria Zoo’s annual Holiday Light Safari starts soon.

The Alexandria Daily Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1YKEBZ8 ) the zoo will be open after regular hours from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the event on Friday and Saturday. The event will also run Dec. 11-12, Dec. 18-23 and Dec. 26-27 during the same hours.

The popular event will feature animal-themed light displays as well as hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights strung throughout the zoo.

On some nights, the zoo will offer special activities and promotions. Santa Claus will be there each night.

Whitt says this year a “giving tree” will allow visitors to buy gifts for the animals. Ornaments from the tree can be purchased and the money will go toward buying enrichment items for the animals.
