VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - The city of Vicksburg will be hosting an auction of surplus items at Halls Ferry Park.

The Vicksburg Post reports (https://bit.ly/1lxpVxH ) Jeff Martin Inc. Auctioneers of Brooklyn will be conducting the auction Saturday at 10 a.m.

Purchasing director Ann Grimshel says the auction will feature 80 vehicles, heavy equipment and office furniture. Some of the vehicles include buses, an ambulance and police cars.

The city bought the six diesel-powered buses in 2006 to start NRoute, the city’s public transportation system. Officials had to get approval from the federal government to declare the buses surplus and put them up for auction.

Officials say if any of the buses sold for $5,000 or more, the city had to return some of that money to the federal government.
