HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered all state and U.S. flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.

Malloy issued the order Thursday after President Barack Obama called for the lowering American flags to half-staff in response to the shootings. Malloy says the Connecticut flag order will be in effect until sunset on Monday.

Two attackers fatally shot 14 people and injured 21 others at a social service center in San Bernardino on Wednesday. Police later killed the shooters.

It was the nation’s deadliest mass shooting since the Newtown, Connecticut, school tragedy three years ago that left 20 children and six adults dead.
