PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a man charged with murder and arson in the shooting death of his father.

Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell tells the Meridian Star (https://bit.ly/1XAzbTp ) Victor McBeath was charged Monday in the shooting death of his father Ozie Lee McBeath.

Officials say McBeath died of a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Waddell says officers responded to a call last Wednesday about a shot fired at a residence. When they arrived, deputies noticed the home was on fire and used fire extinguishers to put out the flames. Once inside, they discovered the victim was deceased.

Victor McBeath was founds at the edge of the woods behind the house. He was taken into custody without incident.

It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
