INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis’ mayor-elect is heading to Harvard University for a course in city leadership.

The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/1Qh30Co ) that Joe Hogsett will attend the school’s Institute for Politics’ Seminar on Transition and Leadership for Newly Elected Mayors. A newly elected mayor has to be from a city with more than 75,000 people to get invited. It runs from Dec. 9-11 and includes workshops on topics like attracting Millennials to cities.

Hogsett says the bipartisan event will let his administration learn from other cities’ successes.

Hogsett is a Democrat. He will become Indianapolis’ 49th mayor when he is sworn in on Jan. 1. He has started a nonprofit group of community leaders called One City Indy to advise him as he takes office.
