RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A man has been ordered to spend 43 years in prison following the death of a McDonald’s employee.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1QVMtFA ) reports 20-year-old Deonte Maurice Jenkins pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officials say Jenkins killed 22-year-old Michael Raymond Bailey Jr. on July 20, 2014.

According to prosecutors, Jenkins was recruited by Christopher Pitts to help him rob a McDonald’s in Henrico County. Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor says the two encountered Bailey outside the restaurant where he was shot. She says the two fled thereafter.

Henrico County Circuit Court Judge L.A. Harris handed out the 43-year active sentence - 60 years for murder with 20 yeas suspended, and three years for the gun charge.
