DENVER (AP) - Arapahoe County authorities have identified a man who was killed by Aurora police after authorities say he attacked an officer and led police on a chase in a stolen police vehicle.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1Nrvc4J ) the county coroner’s office says 25-year-old Tuan Hoang died Monday of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say an officer had checked on a stopped vehicle Hoang was driving when Hoang attacked the officer and stole his police car.

Authorities say Hoang led police on a chase, which ended when the vehicle was rammed by another police car.

Officers opened fire on Hoang, who they say was holding an object and refused orders to drop it.

Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz says the attack on the officer was attempted murder.
