McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - A Krebs man wanted for murder in the shooting death of a man in McAlester has surrendered to police.

The McAlester News-Capital reported (https://bit.ly/1XCkPSg ) Thursday that 20-year-old Garrett Jeffrey Freeman surrendered in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Christopher Blanton.

Freeman is jailed on a first-degree murder charge and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Court records do not list an attorney for him.

Documents filed in the case say Blanton was killed Tuesday during an argument over an alleged $16 debt. Police say a woman who was inside the home when Blanton was shot told officers that Freeman said Blanton had pulled a knife and he didn’t know what else to do.
