DENVER (AP) - Authorities have released the names of a police officer who was injured and a suspect who was killed during a shootout in Denver.

Police say officer John Ruddy was shot in the leg while helping an FBI task force serve an arrest warrant in the Sloan’s Lake area Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to serious but stable condition.

The suspect, identified Thursday as 35-year-old Phillip Munoz, fled in a car when officers closed in, but he crashed and became stuck. It was there that shots were fired. He was wanted in Adams County for assault.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/ewfBNa ) Ruddy is expected to make a full recovery.

The FBI had asked a Denver police SWAT team to assist in Munoz’s arrest.
