ARLINGTON, Mass. (AP) - Arlington police have arrested a woman they allege scammed an 84-year-old widower out of more than $100,000, in part by claiming she needed money for brain tumor surgery.

Anisa Llega is being held on a larceny charge pending her arraignment on Thursday.

Police say the 24-year-old suspect met the man when she was a waitress at a restaurant he frequented, and then about three months ago started cleaning his house.

Police say she asked for and received money for car payments, student loans and other bills. Police say the man also gave her $30,000 for surgery when she feigned having a terminal brain tumor. It was determined that was in Florida on vacation when she was supposed to undergoing surgery.

It could not be determined if she has a lawyer.
