SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The owner of the South Bend Cubs has announced plans for development projects around the city’s baseball park.

The South Bend Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1l94nbg ) Andrew Berlin announced plans Wednesday for a two-building, mixed-use development that will include retail spaces and 140 apartments as well as rooftop restaurants with views of the field.

Berlin says he wants to capitalize on the crowd the team draws. After changing affiliations from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Chicago Cubs last offseason, the minor league baseball team sold nearly 350,000 tickets this past season.

Berlin also announced plans for a 200-seat deck that will be built on top of the Cubs’ performance center in right field. Berlin said that $250,000 project will be a privately funded addition to the city-owned ballpark.
