MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say two men were seriously injured when their car was hit by a tractor trailer in Middletown.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Warwick Road. Troopers said in a news release that 23-year-old Arturo Felipe-Jimenez of Georgetown, who was driving a Ford Mustang, failed to stay stopped at a stop sign and pulled in front of a tractor trailer.

Police say the tractor trailer, driven by 32-year-old Shawn Thomas of Silver Spring, Maryland, hit the Mustang on its driver’s side.

Felipe-Jimenez and a passenger in his car were taken to Christiana Hospital in critical and serious conditions, respectively. Thomas was not hurt.

Troopers issued Felipe-Jimenez a summons for failing to remain stopped and driving without a valid license.
