LAUREL, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a driver in a two-car crash in Laurel that killed two people.

Thirty-one-year-old Nour-Eddine Baassiri of Salisbury, Maryland, was arrested on Tuesday after he was released from a hospital in Maryland, troopers said in a news release. He was charged with two counts of operation of a motor vehicle causing death and other offenses.

Police say on Dec. 23, Baassiri was driving a Ford Taurus north on U.S. 13 when the car crossed the grass median and traveled into the southbound lanes, hitting a Scion.

Authorities say the driver of the Scion, 42-year-old Robert Truitt of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, died at a hospital. A passenger in Baassiri’s car, 28-year-old Dewit Teferi of Ocean City, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
