TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Partiers across some parts of northern Michigan may notice a few more police officers out and about on New Year’s Eve.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1Uh03l9 ) Wednesday that eight city police and three reserve officers will be on foot in the area of the CherryT Ball Drop Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Four Traverse City officers also will be patrolling in vehicles with an eye out for intoxicated motorists.

The Grand Traverse County sheriff’s office says it will have extra patrols out New Year’s Eve. Extra officers also will be on the roads between Traverse City, Suttons Bay and Northport.
