GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (AP) - A skate park planned for Golden Meadow faces delays after the only construction bid for the project came in over budget.

Project engineer John Plaisance tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1SmmFSO) the offer came this month from Picciola Construction at $294,000, at least $74,000 more than project leaders were aiming to spend on construction.

The skate park — the first in Lafourche Parish — is set for Golden Meadow’s Oak Ridge Park.

Plaisance says project leaders will decide in January how to proceed.

So far, Lafourche Parish has set aside $250,000 for the entire project. Houma’s Fireman’s Skate and Bike Park, which opened in May adjacent to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, cost about $1.2 million.
