AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) - A 14-year-old girl plans to dismantle a two-story treehouse that ran afoul of zoning codes in her western Pennsylvania community.

The Beaver County Times (https://bit.ly/1ml1jJB ) reports Elise Truchan (TROO’-can) will tear down the treehouse in Leet Township on Thursday.

The girl built the structure in a front yard tree for an eighth-grade class project. But her family received a notice in March asking that it be removed because such structures aren’t allowed in front yards and needed a building permit to be constructed.

The family fought that decision but lost, eventually agreeing the treehouse would come down at year’s end.

The girl’s mother says Elise may try to repurpose the structure in the family’s backyard. Elise likes J.R. R. Tolkien’s books and may convert the treehouse into a hobbit hole.
