POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A 500-pound mushroom is set to fall from the Pennsylvania sky along with a massive strawberry, an 85-pound Peeps chick and a giant piece of bologna.

State officials tell The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1OlfsRi ) that at least 16 ceremonial New Year’s Eve drops are expected Thursday night in towns around the state.

A giant Yuengling bottle is expected to drop in Pottsville and an anchor will be dropped in Shippensburg.

Kennett Square, which bills itself as the mushroom capital of the world, has been dropping a mushroom since 2013. Southern Chester County makes more than 65 percent of mushrooms that are eaten in the country.

The mushroom is set to be raised and lighted at 8 p.m. It will then be lowered at midnight by a crane.
