JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A coroner says a fatal shooting at a western Pennsylvania housing project is likely a homicide.
The Cambria County coroner wasn’t immediately releasing the name of the victim Thursday, as authorities sought to notify the victim’s family.
Johnstown police were called to the Solomon Homes projects about 8 p.m. Wednesday and the victim, found in a grassy area between two buildings, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was also scheduled Thursday. But Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Lees says it appears the victim was shot once and preliminarily ruled the death a homicide.
Johnstown is about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.
