SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is offering free admission to community groups on Martin Luther King Day.

The museum announced Wednesday that the free admission on Jan. 18 is meant to thank organizations for their service to others. It’s the third year the museum has marked the King holiday with its own Community Day.

The event allows groups to tell the public about their contributions to the community at informational booths in the museum plaza. It also gives discounted admission to families donating basketballs or volleyballs for youth programs on Jan. 18 and every Sunday in January.

Reservations are required for the Community Day event and can be made by calling the museum’s Group Tours office.
