HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - The Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches of the Long Island Rail Road are operating with delays after a person was struck by a non-passenger train.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1R0nOQw ) that an email alert went out to LIRR customers at about 6:15 a.m. Thursday informing them that service on the two branches had been suspended.

A notice on the MTA website later said service as restored with delays averaging one hour.

The MTA said a person who was not authorized to be on the tracks was hit by a train west of the Hicksville station.

No other information was available.
