CAIRO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 62-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in an explosion at his Hudson Valley home earlier this month.

State police tell the Daily Freeman of Kingston (https://bit.ly/1mrCdZ7 ) that Ed Tedla died Sunday at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla.

Police say he suffered severe burns over 80 to 90 percent of his body late on the afternoon of Dec. 5 when the explosion leveled his home in the Green County town of Cairo (KAY’-roh), 25 miles south of Albany.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation determined Tedla was trying to relight his propane heater’s pilot light, which ignited accumulated propane in the home.
