EL PASO, Texas (AP) - A man involved in a standoff with El Paso police after he barricaded himself in a home has now been charged with murder after authorities found the body of a gunshot victim in the home.

Police say 34-year-old Bilal Muhammad has been booked into the El Paso Detention Facility and is held on $750,000 bond.

Police were summoned to the house Wednesday after reports of gunshots. Then SWAT members were brought in when Muhammad refused to leave the place.

He eventually surrendered without incident and, during their canvass of the home, police found the body of a gunshot victim. The name of that person hasn’t been released.

Court records show a motion was filed Thursday to have an attorney appointed for him.
