SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in the Christmas night stabbing of his roommate in upstate New York.

Authorities say state troopers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle from the stabbing around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers stopped Christopher Cowan in the Thruway’s southbound lanes near the Orange-Rockland county line and took him into custody without incident.

Cowan is accused of stabbing his roommate while they were sitting in a car in the city of Schenectady last Friday night. He’s charged with attempted murder. Police say he and the victim live together in Connecticut, but he gave an address of Cohoes (kuh-HOHZ’) near Albany.

The roommate was treated at Ellis Hospital and later released.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
