BURKE, Vt. (AP) - Officials say QBurke Mountain Resort will open on New Year’s Day after unseasonably warm temperatures have kept skiing enthusiasts off the state’s slopes.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1RSsIPL ) spokeswoman Jessica Sechler announced Wednesday that day passes at the northeastern Vermont vacation destination will be reduced until all trails are opened.

Sechler says if temperatures continue to cooperate, both Upper Willoughby and Lower Bear Den trails will be skiable. The resort will also have one summit to Mid-Burke trail open.

Officials say snow-making equipment has been running continuously since Sunday.

Complications involving state financial reviews have prolonged the projected opening of QBurke’s new hotel until at least late January.

Stenger says final construction is just about completed and reservations for December and January have been either rescheduled or refunded.
