BEND, Ore. (AP) - Bend officials have approved new marijuana regulations governing the sale of recreational marijuana in city limits.

The Bend Bulletin reports (https://goo.gl/x2eIPK ) that the Bend City Council approved the regulations early Thursday, which require recreational marijuana businesses to be distanced at least 1,000 feet from each other. The businesses are also barred from being within 150 feet from day care centers and parks.

Under the newly implemented rules, medical and recreational dispensaries are treated as entirely different entities. A recreational dispensary could set up next to a medical dispensary as long as it’s at least 1,000 feet from the next recreational dispensary.

The new regulations take effect immediately.
